Primavera Sound Barcelona, together with Primavera Pro and the Primavera Sound Foundation, have been officially recognised by UNESCO as international cultural events that will steer the way towards MONDIACULT 2025, the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development, to be held in Barcelona from 29th September to 1st October. This recognition confirms the role of the festival, the professional meeting and the foundation as spaces where culture moves, and in particular recognises a model in which it acts as an element for social transformation and fairer development.

Convened by UNESCO only once per generation, MONDIACULT will bring together over 190 ministerial delegations to put culture back at the centre of building the world to come.  After Mexico City (1982 and 2022) and Stockholm (1998), the fourth edition will be held in Barcelona, with the Parc del Fòrum as its symbolic and operational hub during its four main days.

In addition to having been home to Primavera Sound Barcelona for over two decades, the Parc del Fòrum was conceived, from its inception in 2004 for the Universal Forum of Cultures, as a place for art and culture, for dialogue between communities, for urban integration and for sustainability and public imagination. A place where the city could look to the future, and which today returns to the centre of global debate with the same vocation: to welcome voices, ideas and projects that contemplate the future.

Inclusion in this programme represents much more than an institutional seal of approval; it is an international recognition of Primavera Sound’s role as a cultural agent committed to MONDIACULT’s strategic values: universal access to culture, diversity, equity, sustainability and cultural rights. Over more than 20 years, Primavera Sound has built an ecosystem where creativity, innovation, new generations, sustainability and urban vision converge.

In 2025, Primavera Sound will align itself with what MONDIACULT 2025 wants to be: a new starting point for collectively imagining another way of experiencing culture.
